This lesson describes the most exciting and creative part of your Figarc journey. It‘s where all the fun happens of dragging furniture pieces from the Assets panel and dropping them onto your floor plan. To use my friend‘s words:
There’s something oddly satisfying when designing floor plans. Even if you are not an architect.
All furniture pieces in Figarc are designed according to industry-standard dimensions. So, rest assured, the sofa you‘ve dropped onto your floor plan will match the sofa you plan to purchase. Having that out of your worries, let‘s explore the hidden gimmicks inside the furniture pieces.
Furniture variants
Each furniture piece has a few variants, the most common of which are type and size. For example, if we take the sofa, you can choose between a two-seater, a three-seater, an L-shaped, or even a U-shaped combination.
Each type also comes in a few industry-standard sizes to accommodate different sizes of living areas. To top it off, for some sofa types, you can also mirror the orientation, which helps you blend the sofa even more into your room.
Elements inside furniture
Most furniture pieces also have a toggle to turn on creative elements inside. If, for example, we take the Dining table component, you can turn on the Serving switch, and dishes are magically served on the table. This is pretty nifty if the purpose of your floor plan design is for inspiration rather than for technical reasons.
Try switching on other elements in other furniture pieces, and you might discover coffee mugs lying on a coffee table or a lazy cat sleeping on a couch. 😊
Collections of multiple furniture pieces
To speed up the creation of your floor plan design, you can drag and drop entire collections per room type instead of individual furniture pieces. For example, you can drop an entire living room collection consisting of sofas, armchairs, puffs, a coffee table, and a media set into one go.
Then, you‘ll most probably want to nudge the individual furniture pieces. In that case, just detach the collection instances, and all the furniture pieces will be on their own.
Furniture piece descriptions
Some furniture pieces have further descriptions, which you can find by selecting the furniture and then clicking on Show more in the Design panel. Some of these descriptions will take you to an external link where you can read in detail about the industry technical specifications of the furniture piece, while some will take you to the Figarc website, where you can also read more about it.
And that‘s a wrap. 🌯
